Christmas Time

(Scott Wilcox)

One of my favorite things to do at Christmas is get all my friends together and enjoy some good music and conversation.  This song is about just such and occasion. In fact I'll be havin' another Christmas party any day now stay tuned to my website to get invited!

Christmas Time
by Scott Wilcox (c) October 2011
I'm lookin out the window at the soft snow comin down
12 full day to Christmas, can't wait till your'e around
I got lights and decorations hangin on the tree
Been good all year but Santa, there's a few things that I need

Gonna need some holly, Gonna need some good times
Gonna need some mistletoe, some friends I know,
And a pocket full of rhymes.
I need an old six string and a little jing-a-ling
Surrounded by friends I love and the God above
And a little peace of mind, Oh then its Christmas time!

You find it hard to smile?
I know you had a tough year.
But try not to cry, in a little while
You will feel the Christmas cheer.
So grab the one you love, Oooo and hold her tight
Sing a Christmas song and tell her baby, It'll be alright

Bridge
We'll  leave those troubles back in last year.
I'm gonna need some things to spread the Christmas cheer
(Chorus 2x)

So hold her tight, kiss her once or twice.
She's the one you love, praise God above
That she's with you here tonight
So call your friends up.
They come in the drivin' snow
then you sing a song, all evening long
But there's one thing that I know.
(Chorus 2x)

A Merry Little Christmas

(Scott Wilcox)

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is a song introduced by Judy Garland in the 1944 MGM musical Meet Me in St. Louis. Frank Sinatra later recorded a version with modified lyrics, which has become more common than the original. The song was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane.

A Merry Little Christmas
Original music by Ralph Blane and Hugh Martin
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on, our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years we all will be together, if the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Comin Home

(Scott Wilcox)

Comin Home is a song fo anyone who has to be away from home at Christmas time.  In this particular story the husband calls his wife and tells her he'll be home by Christmas day.  He says, "Chill the wine, I'll be home in just a short time, can't wait to see that look on your face." "Tell my friends I won't see them till the weekend, cause I'm spending every Christmas moment with you."

Home for the Holidays
Written by Scott Wilcox © December 2005

Trim the Tree, with the holly and the ivy
I’ll be home for sure by Christmas Day.
Chill the wine. I’ll be home in just a short time.
I can’t wait to see that look on your face.

I’m coming home, for the holidays,
So I can see your lovely face,
And feel your warm embrace,
As though it was the first time.

Tell my friends, I won’t see them till the weekend
Cause I’m spending every Christmas moment with you.
Wear that dress, yes; the one that always makes me confess.
‘cause I’ve got only one thing left on my mind…

Coming home for the holidays.
Taking long walks in the snow
Like we’ve got no where else to go
As though it were the first time.

And when the lights are low
And you’re sitting ‘neath the mistletoe.
That’s when I will know I’m home…
For the holidays.

There Must Be Somethin More

(Scott Wilcox)

What is the true meaning of Christmas for you?  Is it the shopping, the presents, the family get-togethers, the church and school programs, the grumpy relatives or the lights on the Christmas tree?  For me, I think all those things are just distractions from the real meaning of Christmas, which is the birth of Jesus Christ.  I like to think this song reminds us of that.

There Must Be Somethin' More
By Scott Wilcox (c) October 2011
It's almost Christmas Eve
I hear a band outside and people caroling
Stringin lights outside and playin in the snow
Soon everyone will know that its Christmas
The shoppers rush on by
In the distance you can hear baby cry
On the lake the kids are playin on the ice
People trying to be nice, you know its Christmas

Christmas must be more than a little song singin
It must be something more than Church bells ringing
It must be somethin more or I've been thinkin wrong

Its almost Christmas Eve
People stand in lines for a man all dressed in red
In the distance,  I thought that someone said
That man all dressed in red, was Christmas
Then just before I sleep
I find a good book and I begin to read
About a baby in a manger stall
And then once and for all, I know its Christmas

Chorus
Thank God for Jesus or there wouldn't be Christmas songs

Swingle Bells

(Scott Wilcox)
Swingle Bells
Arrangement by Scott Wilcox
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight!
(chorus)
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, swingle bells,
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon, Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side,
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
He got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot.

Away in a Manger

(Scott Wilcox)
Away In a Manger
Arrangement by Scott Wilcox
Away in a manger, No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
Chorus
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children In Thy tender care
And take us to heaven To live with Thee there

The cattle are lowing the poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus no crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus Look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle, 'Til morning is nigh.
